How to Make Your Own Mario Series Thwomp Using Concrete

January 2, 2015 by Tony Ponce

Clear out your weekend, because this is a demanding project.

Most videogame crafts projects are relatively nonthreatening affairs, like crocheting a Kirby doll or building a Mass Effect spacecraft out of Lego bricks. But if you want to take your DIY game to the next bone-crunching level, you'll work with a hardcore substance like concrete. What could you make out of concrete? Why, a Thwomp from the Mario series, of course!

Instructables user mactothefuture shared this step-by-step concrete Thwomp guide many months ago, but I'm guessing few people found out about it, because I don't see an army of Thwomps guarding every home in the country yet. That, or people were overwhelmed by just how time-consuming the whole process can be. I hope you remember all your skills from shop class, because you'll have to put each and every one of them to the test here.

Also, it goes without saying that the end result is probably heavier than your average plushie. But if you've got the time and the tools, you too can build the perfect gatekeeper!
