PlayStation Network Outages Causes Florida Kid to Call Cops

December 31, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Someone needs to get their priorities right.

As you're no doubt aware, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live were down for much of the Christmas period as a result of a Lizard Squad DDoS.

For many, it was an inconvenience – particularly with games like Destiny which require a constant connection – however, one Florida resident was so dismayed at not being able to connect he dialled 911.

Here's a snippet of the kid's conversation with an operator.

No we don't know when they will restore service to Xbox or Playstation. Please Dial 9-1-1 only for emergencies. pic.twitter.com/nQCeWEEFP1

While we can hope online gaming services aren't DDoS'd or hacked again, it's likely that such attacks will become more frequent but unless you received a patch-less copy of Assassin's Creed Unity it's really not an emergency.
