Sony's Playstation 4 console has been on an absolute tear this year. While Microsoft's Xbox One might have marred the Playstation 4's perfect winning sales records last month, Sony's black box is still far ahead in terms of systems sold. Nintendo's Wii U has also seen a resurgence, though its sales don't threaten Sony or Microsoft's by any legible margin.
With the holidays upon us, gaming is at the forefront of entertainment. Families around the globe are looking to find the perfect gift for the gamer(s) in their family, and for many, they will find it in the Playstation 4. This is something Sony is quite aware of, and it appears that their marketing department has outdone themselves.
Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House recently spoke to The Independent, stating that Sony would likely have some problems keeping the Playstation 4 in stock over the holidays in Europe.
“If I look at Europe I think it is potentially, for the second year running, going to be quite inventory challenged,” said House. “I’m not going to say you won’t be able to find a PlayStation 4. I think it’s going to be kind of hand to mouth in terms of that market.”
Europe's affinity for the Playstation 4 is shared worldwide, as gamers everywhere have taken up the badge of Sony this console generation. It will be interesting to see how the next year pans out for Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft, who are all bidding for dominance as we stroll into 2015.
