Papers, Please Heading to iPad After Apple Censors Nudity (Update)

December 12, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The scanner won’t create a fully nude depiction in the iPad version.

Update: Nudity may come to Papers, Please on iPad after all, with Pope tweeting Apple's rejection was based on a "misunderstanding".

Just talked to Apple. The initial rejection for porn was a misunderstanding on their part. They suggested I resubmit with the nudity option.

I'll make an update to restore the nudity over the weekend (default to off) and it should be available next week.

Original Story: The award winning indie game Papers, Please is finally heading to iPad after Apple censored the title's nudity.

The iPad version of Lucas Pope's game was rejected by Apple on the basis that it included content considered "pornographic" under its notoriously fickle guidelines.

In Papers, Please, players take on the role of an immigration officer in a country facing a period of social and political turmoil and must choose whether or not to allow people to enter the country. One option open to players is a "search scanner", which allows you to see if the suspicious NPCs are carrying dangerous or illegal goods.

Once used, the scanner generates an abstract 2D representation of a naked human body and while it seems the feature will appear in the game, there will be no "full nudity option".

The iPad version has no full nudity option for the search scanner photos. Apple rejected that build for containing "pornographic content."

Papers, Please will be released on iPad tomorrow, December 12th. The game was originally launched on PC last year.
