It's the holiday season, which means everyone is getting in the spirit — even videogame composers! Scarlet Moon Records, a music label established by a former colleague of mine named Jayson Napolitano, has just put out Scarlet Moon Christmas EP, a five-track collection of wintry arrangements sourced from Final Fantasy and Saturday Morning RPG, all for $5 on Loudr.
Headlining the album is Dale North, former editor-in-chief at Destructoid and well-known musician in the fan arrangement community. He is the co-founder of game cover band The OneUps and composer of the recent 16-bit indie RPG Dragon Fantasy Book II. Also joining him on the album is Saturday Morning RPG composer Vince DiCola, who is more famously known as the man behind the music in The Transformers: The Movie (the original, not the Michael Bay films) and Rocky IV. Then there is Goomin Nam, who can be heard in the Korean rhythm series DJMAX, as well as Napolitano himself.
If you want to infuse this Christmas with some lovely game jams, give the EP a download.
