Mojang’s Scrolls Playable As Soon As Next Week

December 6, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The upcoming card strategy game finally sees release post Minecraft.

After recently beeing freed up from Minecraft development, Mojang is just about ready to release their next major game release, Scrolls.

The aforementioned scrolls are actually cards used to take on three of five of the opposing player's idols. These scrolls can come in the form of creatures, structures, spells, and enchantments. Creatures can destroy idols and other creatures directly. Structures are immobile and placed on the board. Spells usually strike creatures or structures, but can have any number of effects. Finally, enchantments have lasting effects on creatures.

The game was briefly the subject of a lawsuit from Bethesda Softworks, who maintains that the game infringes upon their trademark for The Elder Scrolls. The two reached an out-of-court agreement, where Mojang would not trademark the name for themselves, and Bethesda, in turn, would not contest the name anymore.

Mojang has confirmed that Scrolls will be coming to Android and PC next week, with an iPad version following soon after. Mojang is running against the clock for that port, as the deadline for submissions to new iTunes ends 2015.
