Destiny: Crota’s Sword Returns In New Event On Earth

December 3, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The sword of the dormant blight on humanity returns to enable you to strike down on the Horde.

Bungie has squeezed in a surprise for Destiny players that they haven’t announced yet. Crota’s Sword is back, and this time, it’s playable on Earth.

You can find, earn, and use it in the Blades of Crota event. The event is found in the Steppes, Mothyards, Divide, the Anchor of Light, and Hellmouth.

When the event begins you will see a message on the HUD that goes like this:

Subsequently, a yellow Hive Knight will appear. Yes, that knight is using Crota’s sword. Once the knight has been killed, any player can grab the sword and go hog wild on the Hive for a full 60 seconds.

What happens when you pick up the sword yourself? The game switches to third person perspective as you strike out with the sword. The default melee becomes a dash attack, which autotargets and can hit multiple enemies. Press the right trigger for a stronger overhead slash, and the super buttons for an even stronger overhead with a leap and some area of effect damage.

Let us know if you’ve stumbled across and seen Crota’s Sword in action, or if you get your hands on it yourself, over in the comments.
