Kingdom Hearts 3: Five Facts we Know so Far

November 3, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

With Kingdom Hearts 3 heavy on our minds, we take a look at the cold, hard facts.

When Square Enix revealed Kingdom Hearts 3 during last year's E3 Expo, it could have been described as a terrible tease. While I sat there, happy that my most anticipated game of all-time, I couldn't help but feel that the two year wait was a bit egregious. I'd rather game developers and publishers just wait until the game's release is a bit closer before getting all of our hopes up. Considering the release date is still an undiclosed time in 2015, it's very possible the game gets pushed back even further into 2016.

At any rate, we're staying ready here at Gameranx, as is Youtuber TheGamersJoint. This Youtuber has been paying close attention to the movements of Kingdom Hearts 3 and has crafted a video which brings you five facts that we know for certain about the game. We'll list them here and provide the video for you down below:

1. Kingdom Hearts 3 will be using Unreal Engine 4.

This was a pretty big development. Announced last month, Square Enix said that they wouldn't be using proprietary software for further development on Kingdom Hearts 3. Tetsuya Nomura said that they had been working closely with Epic Games to get the most out of the new Unreal Engine 4 and that things were going along without a hitch.

2. Kingdom Hearts 3 will be the most action-packed of the series so far.

CEO John Pleasants has stated that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be the most dynamic experience of the series. If his testimony isn't enough for you, just look at the facts: we're in a new console generation, Kingdom Hearts 3 is using Unreal Engine 4 and Square Enix knows that they have to make a big entrance if they want to bring Kingdom Hearts back to consoles.

3. The end of the E3 2014 trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD Remix 2.5 is actually the opening of Kingdom Hearts 3.

Tetsuya Nomura has declared that the end of the E3 2014 trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD Remix 2.5 is actually the opening for Kingdom Hearts 3. Though, we're expecting that the Kingdom Hearts 3 version will be dressed up a bit more.

4. Both Sora and Riku will be getting new outfits for Kingdom Hearts 3.

This is particularly interesting because it appears that the wardrobe for each character only changes in entries to the main storyline of Kingdom Hearts. You should expect new outfits for characters like Kairi and others, as well.

5. There is no quantified release date for Kingdom Hearts 3.

While we wrote this earlier in the article, TheGamersJoint wants you to know that there is no clear release date for Kingdom Hearts 3 yet. Many claim that the game has a March or May release, but those people are just guessing.
