Assassin’s Creed Unity on PC Has Steep Hardware Requirements

October 23, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Fans are not happy about how high even the minimum requirements are.

Assassin’s Creed Unity’s PC requirements have been outed, and many fans are not happy about it.

The requirements were revealed early by Intra Games, the publisher and distributor of the game on behalf of Ubisoft Korea.

Minimum Requirements

OS: Windows® 7 SP1, Windows® 8/8.1 (Only 64-bit supports)
CPU: Minimum – Intel Core® i5-2500K @ 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or above Recommended – Intel Core® i7-3770 @ 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or above
RAM: Minimum – 6GB or above Recommended – 8GB or above
GPU: Minimum – NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 or above Graphic Memory minimum – 2GB

Recommended Requirements

Recommended – NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 290X or above Graphic Memory Recommended – 3 GB
Sound Card: DX9.0c-compatible
HDD: above 50 GB
Multiplayer: 256 kbps Upload bandwidth or Higher

As you can see, recommended and even minimum requirements are very high. Many fans reacting in this thread are complaining that they will not be able to run the game on their computers as is.

Some of them are threatening to cancel pre-orders, others are resolved to get the game on a console. Some even suspect Ubisoft is deliberately overstating these specs, to help graphics card makers or console companies. Other redditors made sure to point out Ubi is known for being transparent about specs.

The only logical conclusion that can be drawn is that Assassin’s Creed Unity is every bit as demanding as Ubisoft claims. Of course, it really would not be able to run on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, or Wii U, at least not without compromising the game itself in some way.

Some fans have decided they will try to run the game on less than capable rigs anyway, and expect framerates to drop to as low as 10 FPS.

Is your computer capable of running this game as is? Will you upgrade your PC, buy it on console, or not get the game at all knowing this? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.

Assassin’s Creed Unity will be released on November 11 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
