Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire: Behold Mega Steelix and Mega Glalie

October 20, 2014 by Tony Ponce

Here are the Mega stars of tomorrow’s demo.

Tomorrow, October 21, members of the Pokemon Trainer Club will receive a download code for a special Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire demo. One of the big draws of the demo is that you'll be able to capture a brand-new Mega Evolution and transfer it over to the final game. Which Mega you receive depends on your region — North America will get Mega Glalie, while Japan received Mega Steelix.

Both of those fresh faces got a pair of spreads on The Pokemon Company's "New Mega Evolutions" page. Mega Steelix will gain a huge boost in defense, and it learns the Sand Force ability, which increases the strength of Rock, Ground, and Steel moves by 30%. Mega Glalie gains big boosts in attack, special attack, and speed, and it uses Refrigerate to transfer Normal abilities into Ice abilities.

Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arrive for 3DS on November 21.
