After a long and winding road, Square Enix has finally announced that Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions will be released on the iOS—iPad and iPhone—devices in a few days.
The game, which has long since been available for the Sony PSP with a polished translation and additional content from its original PlayStation version, will be seeing a new release on Apple's devices in early August.
Square Enix says that they have submitted the game for approval to the Apple Store, which they expect to see approved shortly. The game is likely to be priced a lot higher than existing titles in the App Store, in line with Square Enix's expensive pricing structure.
In any case, it'll well be worth it, and assuming it is commercially successful, I think we can expect to see the much superior Tactics Ogre make its way onto the iOS.
