Super Smash Bros. 4: Partial Tracklist from Upcoming Soundtrack

October 8, 2014 by Tony Ponce

The “Red” CD contains 3DS songs, while the “Blue” CD is all about Wii U.

Have you picked up Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS yet? If you have, did you register it on Club Nintendo? Remember, if you register both the 3DS and Wii U versions, you'll be mailed a free Super Smash Bros. soundtrack collection! Since the announcement, Nintendo has kept mum on further details, but it's now ready to deliver some more information our way.

The soundtrack promo page has been updated with a partial tracklist of the two-CD album. As fans have speculated, one disc will focus on songs from the 3DS game, the other on tracks from the Wii U version (although when it comes to tracks that appear in both, anything goes). On the "Red" CD, we've got "Super Mario 3D Land Theme / Beach Theme," "Gerudo Valley" from Ocarina of Time, "Jogging / Countdown" from Punch-Out!!, and more. On the "Blue" CD, we've got "Egg Planet" from Super Mario Galaxy, "Ballad of the Goddess / Ghirahim's Theme" from Skyward Sword, "The Great Cave Offensive" from Kirby Super Star, pkus others. See the rest of the current list in the image above.

Nintendo is calling this a "Premium Sound Selection," which suggests that not every single track from the games will be represented here. My educated guess is that priority will be given to songs that were arranged specifically for these Smash installments, while original game tracks and arrangements taken from previous Smashes will be left on the cutting room floor.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will arrive on November 21, but you'll only have until January 13, 2015, to register both games and be eligible for the offer. in the meantime, perhaps you'd be interested in the recently released Harmony of Heroes unofficial Smash album that collects 7.5 hours of fan arrangements. You know, just to tide you over!
