Smash director Masahiro Sakurai has announced the launch of Conquest Mode in North America as of this morning. This is a special mode that will allow players all over the world to support their favorite fighters. During a specific "conquest" period, two or more fighters will be pitted against one another — like Mega Man and Mario, for example. Whenever a player goes online with one of those fighters and participates in a "With Anyone" match, their victory will increase that character's global win record.
Starting today, it's Villager versus Bowser, with Bowser commanding a sizeable lead — about 73% versus 27% worldwide. If you want to change Villager's fortunes around, you better get in the game and start chopping down trees! You have until 2:00 PM on October 10 to support your pick. At the end of the match-up, players will receive rewards, though how those will be distributed hasn't been explained.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is out now. The Wii U version may come November 21.
