Gematsu has just shared news from a recent Dragon Quest X broadcast on the Japanese streaming site Niconico. In response to a fan question, DQX producer Yosuke Saito answered that he would like to bring the MMO to PS4, which would make it the game's sixth platform after Wii, Wii U, Windows, Android, and 3DS.
Before anyone gets too excited, do recall that Square Enix has claimed interest in doing many things but has yet to deliver. Despite the multitude of DQX ports, a Western localization remains elusive. And despite the strong performance of the 3DS remake of Dragon Quest VII, not to mention how every previous Dragon Quest remake has traveled out West, it remains bound to Japan. Square Enix would love to bring both of them over here, but the economies of scale are not in the company's favor. Even if a PS4 port were to materialize, it's unlikely to make significant waves considering it would be the sixth release, and would likely still stay in Japan.
At the very least, PS4 (and PS3) fans should be pleased that the Koei Tecmo-developed Dragon Quest Heroes is coming to sate some of that DQ hunger.
