Nintendo is fixing a Super Smash Bros 4 glitch that is getting players banned from online play.
Super Smash Bros for 3DS is already out in Japan, and Nintendo has setup the online system with a punitive anti cheat system. If you disconnect too much, or demonstrate bad behavior, such as ganging up on a single opponent, you will receive temporary bans. Unfortunately, this ban is affecting players who did not do anything wrong.
The glitch is activated when you select to play Peach in For Glory Mode, and use her down + B special move. Peach’s down + B special makes her bring out a turnip, which fans believe the game erroneously interprets as an illegally added item. Fan speculation on the glitch also discussed why Link’s down + B special, which allows him to pull out a bomb, does not activate it. Fans believe it goes down to the turnip being available in Customize mode while the bomb is not.
Nintendo announced that they are working on the fix to the glitch, but it will take a week for it to come out. Hopefully, this does not affect players outside of Japan.
Super Smash Bros will be released on the 3DS on October 3. This September 19, however, a demo of the game will be made available in the US and Europe. The game will also be released on the Wii U this holiday season.
