Yesterday, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was released from the team and subsequently suspended from the NFL indefinitely following video evidence of domestic abuse. As a result, EA Sports will be removing him completely from the recently released Madden 15 via a Week 1 update.
The Ray Rice saga begins back in February when he was arrested after allegedly punching his fiancee unconscious at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Video of the aftermath, in which Rice appears to be dragging his fiancee's lifeless body, appeared on TMZ, resulting in a mere two-game suspension at the start of the season. But once a second, much more explicit video that left no room for interpretation appeared yesterday, the NFL took more appropriate action.
This won't be the first time that EA has removed a player from its games. Back when New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was charged with murder, he was removed from Madden 25 and NCAA 14.
