Ubisoft’s Online Pass Detailed

July 21, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Ubisoft will be issuing a new online pass system to hinder used game sales.

Ubisoft is the latest company to follow the footsteps of Sony and Electronic Arts by introducing an online pass, which should help to curtail the sale of used games. At least, that’s the logic behind it.

Called the Uplay passport, Ubisoft’s online pass works in the same way the aforementioned passes do. Every game that comes with it will include a single use code that can be redeemed online to unlock multiplayer functionality and exclusive content.

Players who purchase the game pre-owned will have to purchase a new Uplay passport from the PSN Store or Xbox Live.

“The Uplay passport is a new program designed to provide players with access to bonus content, exclusive offers, and online multiplayer play,” reads the official brief.
