LittleBigPlanet Spin-off Run Sackboy! Run! Announced for Vita and Mobile

September 4, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The game is a free-to-play endless runner.

Tearaway developer Media Molecule has announced LittleBigPlanet spin-off Run Sackboy! Run! on the PlayStation Blog today.

The platformer is being developed at Sony XDev Europe and Senior Producer Tom O'Connor comments:

"As well as putting the finishing touches to LittleBigPlanet 3 on PS3 and PS4, we have also been busy working on a brand new handcrafted (and handheld) mini-adventure. Run Sackboy! Run! is a free-to-play platform-survival game built exclusively for PS Vita iOS and Android mobile devices, in which you can earn exclusive costumes for LBP3."

Using touch and swipe gameplay inputs, you'll guide Sackboy through The Gardens, The Canyons and Avalonia among other worlds from the LittleBigPlanet universe in a bid to stop the The Negativitron, vacuum cleaner which sucks up all creativity from the various worlds.

O'Connor says you'll need fast reflexes to make it through the game and you can challenge your friends via the game's built-in social features and leaderboards.

Set for release in October, Run Sackboy! Run! is coming to PS Vita, Android, and iOS.  LittleBigPlanet 3 meanwhile launches on November 18th for PS3 and PS4.
