Destiny Planet View Gives Players Access to In-Game Environments

September 2, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Explore the in-game world of Destiny using Google technologies.

With the release of Destiny next week, the game’s publisher Activision has put together a new video which provides you with access to the Moon, Mars, and Venus of Destiny—locations that are set to go in the game—using Google’s exploration tools.

Titled Planet View, the application allows you to explore the in-game environments virtually, giving players a small slice of Destiny’s massive offerings.

Interested parties (that’s you, of course!) can also jump in and read up on useful lore, gameplay tips, and even a few hidden real-world and in-game incentives to unlock once you get your hands on the game proper.

Planet View is the first time that a video game has been properly and officially mapped using Google technologies.

Take a look at the tech here.

Destiny launches on September 9 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
