Guilty Gear Xrd, the fifth game in the chronologically confused Guilty Gear fighting franchise, arrived in Japanese arcades back in February and will hit the PS4 and PS3 later this year. As is the case with arcade-to-console conversions, some new playable characters have been added. One such character, Elfert, has been announced by Famitsu magazine as post-launch DLC.
Elfert is a gun user skilled in both long- and close-range combat. From a distance, she can snipe her opponents with her rifle, while up close, she'll give them a taste of her boomstick. Her techniques are inspired by shooter mechanics, as you'll be required to reload and adjust your aim during battles. Elfert will be free for anyone who pre-orders the game, while everyone else can purchase her for 800 yen (under $8).
With Elfert on board, the home console player count sits at 16 characters, 12 of which have returned from past Guilty Gears. The newcomers include Bedman, a boy who has converted his bed into a death machine; Ramletherl Valentine, the final boss of Xrd; and Sin Kiske, son of Ky Kiske and Dizzy who technically already appeared in Guilty Gear 2: Overture, but since that wasn't a fighting game, it doesn't truly count.
Guilty Gear Xrd arrives in Japan on PS4 and PS3 this December 4. A Western release has not yet been announced.
