Hideo Kojima Talks About Reviving Snatcher

July 19, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Hideo Kojima may be interested in reviving Snatcher, but says it’ll have to sell hundreds of thousands of copies to be successful.

Kojima says that he's interested in reviving the Blade Runner-esque Snatcher series, but that the potential game would have to sell at least 200,000 copies in Japan.

He mentioned this on his twitter following questions arising from the success of a new radio play based on Snatcher, by Akira Yamaoka and Suda 51. Titled "Sdatcher," the radio play, which was entirely free, brought upwards of 450,000 listeners.

"Even though the radio broadcast is free, if we conveyed it to a game, could it sell 200,000 or so domestically?," he asked.
