Dragon Age 3: Inquisition Will Not Use BioWare Points

August 25, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

You won’t need BioWare Points to purchase DLC in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

BioWare Points have long been a bane of gamers existences since their inception in Dragon Age: Origins, where they were required for the purchase of downloadable content (DLC) on the PC and Mac platforms. BioWare points were subsequently used in titles like Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and Dragon Age 2.

Thankfully, due to innumerable complaints from the community and vocal discontent towards the BioWare Points program, BioWare has announced that its upcoming role-playing game and third title in the Dragon Age series, Dragon Age: Inquisition, will not require or even use BioWare Points.

The BioWare Points will no longer be supported as a means to purchase DLC. Instead, players on the PC and Mac will be able to purchase DLC for the game directly through Origin, using their credit cards or PayPal. Players on Xbox and PlayStation consoles can purchase DLC through their respective online stores.

However, players can still buy and use BIoWare Points for existing BioWare games that already support their use.

The company states that it will be informing players of this change well in advance of Dragon Age: Inquisition’s release to avoid any confusion with the matter.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is set for a November 18, 2014 release on the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
