When Inti Creates announced that its Mega Man Zero-esque 3DS game Azure Striker Gunvolt would arrive in Japan on August 20, it did so with the caveat that a North American release still had not been finalized. Turns out we didn't have to worry about waiting too long, because players in the States will be able to download it from the eShop on August 29. And that's not all! Purchasing Azure Striker Gunvolt within the first three months of release will reward you with another game absolutely free!
Behold Mighty Gunvolt, an 8-bit crossover of three different Inti Creates properties. You can select to play as Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt, Beck from the upcoming Mighty No. 9, or Ekoro from a Japanese-exclusive rail gun shooter called Gal*Gun. Inti Creates has plenty of experience with NES-style gameplay, having developed Mega Man 9 and 10 as well as a special 8-bit minigame in Mega Man ZX Advent for DS, so if nothing else, Mighty Gunvolt will be an amusing side platter.
Mighty Gunvolt arrives on the 3DS eShop alongside Azure Striker Gunvolt on August 29. The free game promotion will only run until November 28, so jump on that offer quickly.
