H1Z1 Fan Demonstrates Bow And Arrow Crafting

August 20, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

SOE employees shared their approval, but fell short of saying they would be implementing it this way.

What would it be like to make your own bow in H1Z1? A fan has decided to answer that question for us, by making one under H1Z1 rules.

This fan did not share details about his background or real life skills, but it may be possible that he has had survival training. His project is practical and can be made and used in real life. He did seem knowledgable enough to place disclaimers that he could not try out more things, such as flights, weighted tips, etc.

So, to make this H1Z1 bow, he got a knife, some string, a hand saw, some tape, and a few sticks.

For the bow, he took one larger stick, bend it at the middle, made notches at both ends so the string can be latched on, and taped both ends for good measure.

For the arrows, he notched the backs of the arrows so they can sit in the string and be securely aimed. And then he tested each of them out.

The initial blunt arrow worked fine, so he then tested a thicker arrow, and then a sharpened one. At the end, he realized he still needed more grip on these arrows, so he carved an additional four sided grove near the bottom of the arrow to work as a grip.

SOE staff actually found the reddit for this, and expressed their approval. We do not know if they would take inspiration for bow and arrow crafting from this post, but we at least now they know about it.

H1Z1 will be released in late 2014 on the PlayStation 4 and Windows. You can check out the whole image gallery below.
