H1Z1 Gets New Airdrops Trailer

August 18, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

This new mechanic reveals how competitive the game will be.

SOE has shared a new trailer revealing a new gameplay element for H1Z1. Introducing airdrops.

Airdrops are what you imagine they would be in an open world zombie survival horror game.  Airplanes fly across the sky, loudly proclaiming their presence. They drop off these giant boxes via parachute and abruptly leave, without ever touching the ground.

The trailer shows several men looking out for these boxes, so much so that they scout the planes when they arrive, and follow it to get as close to the box as possible.

When the box finally lands, it becomes a pitch battle to see who gets to keep it.  At the end of the trailer, as the sole survivor moves in towards the box and kneels down, the trailer cuts to black as SOE asks, what’s in the box?

SOE decided to tease us about what the box could possibly contain, but it would seem very likely that these boxes would have sought after survival items, including food, clothing, gear, and best of all, weapons.

SOE did make one thing clear however. H1Z1 will be a highly competitive game, where other players are your enemies. In fact, they may be even greater threats to you than the zombies, since they can take resources away from you and your party.

H1Z1 is coming to the PlayStation 4 and Windows this year. You can watch the trailer below.
