Quake Live Will Soon Be Available on Steam

July 18, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Quake Live is coming to Steam very soon.

Quake Live will be available on Steam “very soon,” according to Bethesda VP Pete Hines. Speaking at QuakeCon 2014, the Bethesda exec confirmed that the free-to-play arena shooter is set to arrive on the Steam, presumably for the PC, Linux and Mac.

"Upon release, players will have the option of porting their Quake Live account to their Steam account," reads an official Quake Live news blog post, "allowing you to play and update the game entirely through the Steam interface."

The post goes on to state that subscriptions will be made available through Steam, and refers to the game’s Steam release as a re-launch of the title, which has been in service for over half a decade.

"We will launch an update that for the first time in Quake Live's history, will bring about some big gameplay changes. We want to ensure that FPS fans who check out the game on Steam have more fun in their first match than the current gameplay systems allow."

It’s possible to play Quake Live right now through its official website, but having it on Steam will certainly reinvigorate the game’s community.
