Grand Theft Auto 5: Rockstar Celebrates Independence Day With Fireworks and Monster Trucks

July 1, 2014 by Stephen Daly

New properties, patches, and themed clothing added.

Rockstar has decided to celebrate America's birthday in Grand Theft Auto 5 by rolling out The Independence Day Special which is available from today.

The news was announced on the Rockstar newswire. A free DLC, The Independence Day Special includes a Soverign motorbike and a Liberator monster truck.

A range of US flag themed costumes and accessories are also available as well as a musket rifle and a firework rocket launcher. There are twelve types of fireworks you can set off on your lawn and seven new properties up for grabs in places such as Paleto Bay and Vinewood HIlls.

Afterwards, you can head to Pleasure Pier and check out the Leviathan Roller Coaster and ferris wheel. The DLC will be availble until mid-July but Rockstar has yet to confirm when it will be pulled for download.

A number of fixes, detailed by the patch notes here, have also been released and these include "on call matchmaking", allowing you to accept a job invite and keep free roaming until the job fills up and actually begins. This essentially reduces lobby waiting times.
