Dead Rising 3 Release Date Revealed, 30FPS Cap Explained

June 20, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Developer wbacon has taken pains to explain what the framerate cap is about.

Capcom and Valve have finally revealed the release date of Dead Rising 3 on Steam. Expect to start mauling zombies around Los Perdidos this September 5.

Capcom also cleared the air regarding the game’s 30FPS cap. This game will be taxing for most except the most powerful computers. As a result, they decided to place the cap on to ensure most PC players would get a good experience. If you do have a powerful PC, you should be able to play the game above 30 FPS without any issues, but most gamers will probably want to keep that cap on.

Uncapping the framerate will make the experience much more inconsistent, especially when the screen starts to fill with zombies. Capcom Vancouver developer wbacon has shared high resolution video of the game with and without the framerate cap available to download if you’d like to see it here.
