Age of Conan is now Free-to-Play. Surprise!

July 3, 2011 by Josh Wanamaker

Just like almost every other MMO that exists, Age of Conan is switching over to a free-to-play model.

Now you too can play Age of Conan up to level 20, realize that past that point it's bloody terrible, and rage quit! All while mercilessly hitting that Uninstall button too, I'll wager.

As with other games that have switched to FTP, free players will have access to most of the game's features, but not all of them. As a free player, for example, you'll be able to choose from only four character classes, one Adventure Zone, non-premium dungeons, two raids, no Sieges, etc, etc, etc.

Now I just need Star Trek Online to go FTP and I'll be set to play it. What's really ironic about that is that I worked on STO for four months and never received my free lifetime copy. Thanks, Cryptic!
