Blizzard has already established that its 2.1 update for Diablo 3 will bring a host of new content, and this past Thursday, the game’s lead designer Travis Day talked a bit about what would be going into the patch.
He confirmed that Legendary gems will be coming to patch 2.1, which will be useful in socketed rings and amulets. The update will also see the addition of the Hellfire Amulet, which has a random 5th passive skill, and is made just like the current Hellfire Rings.
Here are some of the most important things Travis Day talked about:
- Legendary Gems – You’ll want to socket these into your unique rings and amulets, especially if you’re already using gems in your other armor slots.
- Tiered Rifts – Monsters do not drop items in Tiered Rifts. Instead, the boss at the end drops all of the loot. The bosses in Tiered Rifts have a high chance of dropping Legendary items and gems, crafting plans, and more.
- Hellfire Amulet – Much like the Hellfire Ring, it’s something you’ll be able to craft. There will be a main stat and the item itself will have six affixes. Each Hellfire Amulet will randomly unlock a specific passive skill for your class. There will be much incentive to craft several Hellfire Amulets based on their randomized stats and random passive skill.
- Seasons – According to Travis Day, the developers have finished their first pass on new legendary items unique to the Season. These will be new items in 2.1.
- Elemental Skill Items – Items that do elemental bonus damage will be getting a look at, so we might see a chance at a Cold damage Cindercoat, for example.
