Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn director Naoki Yoshida told Pocket-linit that Square Enix is currently in talks with Microsoft to bring the MMO to Xbox consoles. However, there's a significant hurdle with Xbox Live that's stopping this from happening.
"We really want to do an Xbox One version," he said. "The thing is, A Realm Reborn is all about cross-platform compatibility. Anybody from any platform can play together. We don't want to split our community into people who play on this platform or play on that one." This is currently possible between PC and PlayStation.
"So we're currently in talks with Microsoft, trying to convince them that this is what needs to happen." he added. A silver lining though is that the Mac version of the game is currently in development.
Check out the details on the latest patch for the game. We also posted on a star rotation guide earlier on.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was released on PC and PS3 in August 2013 and on PS4 a year after.
