Nintendo has announced Splatoon, a brand new 4-on-4 online multiplayer action title for Wii U at E3.
The game will feature eight player 4-on-4 online multiplayer and is all about controlling territory. You can splatter the map with ink and whoever has most territories win.
Characters are squids and have a wider range of actions as a result. You're able to swim really swfitly in your own ink but you become stuck if you wade into enemy ink.
An overhead view of the entire map is available on the GamePad to see what ink is being splattered where in real time and allies can use your ink but enemies are able to disrupt paths for either offensive or defensive advantage.
There's said to be plenty of options for winning and it's all about developing a strategy rather than going in, ink blazing.
Splatoon is set for release in 2015.
