Crytek Fulfills Its Promise and Releases the Crysis 2 Map Editor

June 30, 2011 by Josh Wanamaker

Along with the announcement of the DX11 patch, Crytek also excited potential modders with news of their official editor. Now it’s out.

cryengine 3 map editor

Crysis was notable for having a particularly amazing map editor included with it. When I say "map editor", it's actually an enormous understatement. The CryEngine 2 (and now 3) editors are game-designing software, with a ridiculous number of powerful tools that I can't even begin to list in a dinky little news post like this, so I won't. You know what I will say, though? It has built in motion capture software, for facial expressions when focusing on character faces for dialogue.

Yeah.

You can find the editor and a bunch of other neat stuff here, and the official documentation, which you WILL need, here. Now go make amazing things.
