Even More Destiny Info: E3 Plans, Customization, And More

June 4, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

There’s more info in that one screenshot than we’ve gotten in some weeks.

We’re covering a batch of information on Destiny that will catch you up on their E3 plans, and many other details not covered before.

Bungie has two things planned for E3: live Destiny gameplay with fans, and the date of the Destiny beta.

Bungie revealed in this one screenshot several things all at once.

·         Sitting will be in the game, presumably as a gesture, mapped to the d-pad.

·         Guardians can take off their helmets, at least in the city. Subsequently, they can reveal their customizations in here. Customization options include race, face, hair, and markings, which may be tattoos or similar facial adornments.

·         The city will presumably be a place without combat, for Guardians to mingle, plan out combat strategies, and relax.

·         A banner in the image incorporates the banners of each Guardian class, making it clear that they are each easily identifiable and distinguishable from each other.

On the side, the city will have class specific areas, for when you just want to be with your own kind.

Player identification information is as follows: name goes on top, with clan name immediately under it, and rank below that. On the left is the Guardian symbol.

For the beta, you can only have one Guardian per beta code. As Bungie puts it, there can be only one.

There are six community players who will be joining Bungie at their booth: Alan from our source, MoreConsole, Datto from DattodoesDestiny, Mark from Guardian Radio, Duncan from Destiny.Bungie.org, Dan from ReadyUpLive, and Cozmo23 from Destiny’s reddit.

Destiny is set in a living social world, but if you choose to, you can play loner the whole time you are in it. There will be spaces where you can play alone.

We will see more areas than Old Russia in E3.

Bungie is setting no limitations on how often you can run strikes, so it’s based entirely on skill levels.

Bungie will be paying attention to community feedback but not everything is going to pass muster. Of course, weapon buffs will probably not be approved, but they might add it elements that will surprise or intrigue the devs.

Guns are at your mercy. You can tear it down, break it into pieces, and take the best parts to make your own gun.

Fusion Rifles are energy based weapons with significantly slow reloads due to charging times. You can alleviate this issue by precharging before going out to your target. It is mostly a medium range weapon, although if you can get a handle on the recoil you can use it for long range as well. It actually fires seven separate beams in succession, allowing you to take out multiple targets with one shot.

Here’s an idea of how much customization the game has:

·         Guardian class: Hunter, Titan, Warlock

·         Gender: man or woman

·         Race: human, Exo, or Awoken

·         Face, etc.

Weapons, armor, and other custom options are only acquirable in the wild.

Call Of Duty control configuration will be in Destiny. In fact, it will be in the beta, although apparently it’s hidden somehow.

You can expect to spend around 4 hours in a raid.

You can get lost in areas in the game, because the worlds are so massive. They actually come in overlapping bubbles, with public and private areas alike.

Finally, this reddit reveals that ammo drops will be an element in the game. Interestingly, the ammo come color coded, presumably to match different gun types, and also for easy identification.

Destiny is coming September 9, for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
