Update: We've gotten in touch with SOE who have informed us that the release date rumor below is false.
Original post is as follows:
According to website HITC Tech, Planetside 2 on the PlayStation 4 is rumoured to be released on June 30th of this year. The source was quick to note, however, that it will most likely be the beta version of the game instead of the final product.
It was noted that the game will also make an appearance in this year's E3. The game is expected to run at 1080p on the PS4 so players have a lot to look forward to. A new continent featured in the game was also revealed earlier this year.
It's wise for Sony Online Entertainment to release a beta first since launching online games can be very tricky. We can only hope that the PS4 game will have the patches that were already released for the PC. Consequently, we should look forward to E3 since that it is the perfect venue to divulge actual release dates.
Planetside 2 was initially released on Microsoft Windows on November 20, 2012 and it is intended to be released on the PS4 at an unspecified date this year.
