We have for you some new screenshots for Shinji Mikami’s next horror opus, The Evil Within.
Regarding the source, Sony inadvertently leaked these pics a few hours ahead of the embargo lifting.
Disregarding any debate on resolution, the graphical quality on these screenshots is undebatably very impressive. Everything looks good, and by that I mean the baddies are freaky ass scary and look way too real. Matching expectations, certain elements are photorealistic, which is basically everything that isn’t human (or humanlike).
Mikami’s games don’t flinch away from the gore, and based on these screenshots The Evil Within will be no different. One enemy attacks you even while he has a pipe lodged between his eye socket. Another shot shows a human bust, but based on the blood surrounding it, it must have been alive not that long ago.
It should also be noted that the game maintains its extremely black color scheme, which may have helped in the game’s technical performance as much as creating atmosphere. The light that emanates throughout doesn’t have any single source, and really seems suspicious when you think about it, but the good thing is that at no point does the game’s darkness hinder gameplay.
Without further ado, check out our screenshots below. The Evil Within is coming August 26 to Windows, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
