Halo 5 Guardians: Did Didact Survive To Break Master Chief’s Helmet

May 21, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The latest issue of Halo Escalation has a huge spoiler on the cover alone.

The latest solicitation from Dark Horse Comic is out, and with that comes new information from Halo Escalation issue 9 – and some possible spoilers about Halo 5: Guardians.

So the copy now directly points out that the events in this issue happened after the events of Halo 4. After taking the Didact down, it seems that Master Chief faced one of his greatest challenges.

As you can see, the cover also shows the Didact alive and successfully knocking Master Chief down. If you remember the ending to Halo 4, however, this may not immediately make sense. If you don’t mind the spoilers, will run through those events in the next paragraph.

At the end of Halo 4, Chief placed a pulse grenade on the Didact’s chest and threw him into the Slipspace rupture. Presumably, this would mean Didact’s armor exploded, and we can all safely assume that Didact died.

Or that he was banished Negative Zone style.

Or nothing. We don’t actually fully know yet how Slipspace operates, so as feel good as that ending was we didn’t really know for sure what happened.

Seeing Halo Escalation’s cover now, it would seem Didact survived that last fight and came back to give Master Chief the trashing of his life! He might have even cracked Chief’s helmet.

There’s no doubt that even with the reveal of Halo 5: Guardians, fans are still scrambling to get clues on the game. I suspect we’ll eventually get all the info we need from E3, but in the meantime, the comics will continue to spoil the story for us bit by bit.

Halo 5: Guardians is coming 2015 to Xbox One.
