Dragon Age 3: Inquisition Western Approach Screenshots

May 18, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Plus, we explore a possibility opened by having the Fortress of Adamant in this game.

We have new images from Dragon Age 3: Inquisition.

These images are of the Western Approach, one of the most unhospitable areas in the game. As you can see, it includes shots of the Fortress of Adamant, which stands on the edge of the Abyssal Rift.

We already went into the fortress’ history with the Grey Wardens. What we would like to point out here is the fact that the fortress looks small from the outside, but much of it has actually been built underground, deep into the side of the chasm. When the Inquisitor and his party eventually find their way into the structure, they should find vast halls, much like the most loyal of fans found reading  Dragon Age: Asunder.

It’s been rumored that a yet-unnamed character is also returning from Dragon Age: Asunder to meet us again in Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. Is it possible that the said character will be found in the Fortress of Adamant? Asunder readers may want to check back and see what they find.

Want spoilers? What the hell, read on below, I’ll share what I found out.

Dragon Age Asunder is a part mystery fantasy novel, involving a new character named Rhys, son of Archmage Wynne, as he investigates a murder to clear his name. Wynne brings Rhys to the Fortress to find Pharamond, and old friend of Wynne’s who was commissioned to investigate the Rite of Tranquility.

Pharamond turned Tranquil himself, and unwittingly set demons free into the world as a result of the Rite. However, he found out that there was a way to turn back. Pharamond was eventually killed, but not before he passed the knowledge of what he learned to Rhys.

So, what if it turns out Rhys is hiding in the Fortress, trying to recreate the Rite and duplicate Pharamond’s results himself? This is speculation, of course, but it’s our best guess based on what we know.

We know there’s a huge chance our guess is wrong but there is nothing wrong with making some educated guesses, and we’ll make sure to share verified details as they come. Dragon Age 3: Inquisition is coming October 7 to Windows, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
