Xbox One: Nongaming Apps Free This June, MS Offering Xbox Live Gold Refunds

May 14, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Microsoft is playing hardball to win fans over to Xbox One.

Microsoft has outlined even more changes coming to Xbox Live Gold. They will be offering refunds for the service to consumers in June, in light of new Gold benefits coming to Xbox One.

So, here’s the gist. Games with Gold and Deals with Gold are coming to Xbox One. Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners alike get to benefit from these deals and games. More importantly, not only Netflix and Hulu, but all entertainment apps, for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, will be available to all Xbox owners without Xbox Live Gold. Not only, that also means YouTube, Twitch, Skype, OneDrive, Upload Studio, all of them will be free after June.

Subsequently, if you subscribed to Xbox Live Gold for those entertainment apps, come June you can cancel your subscription and get pro rata refunds. Subscriptions need to be cancelled by August 31, 2014, and it may take six to eight weeks. Of course, if you got your membership free or on trial, there will be no refund.
