WildStar Open Beta Plans Detailed, Livestream Imminent

May 6, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

WildStar’s open beta plans have been detailed.

Carbine Studios has announced that WildStar will enter open beta on May 8. Players interested in checking out the game for themselves can request a key from May 8 through May 18 on the official website. Players who’ve already participated in a previous beta event will automatically receive access to the open beta period.

According to the studio, the game’s level cap will be extended to 30 for the weekend, and allow players to venture to Farside, the low-gravity moon orbiting the planet of Nexus. Players will also be able to check out Galeras Adventure, a tower-defense styled mission, unlock two new abilities, and fill out their tenth and final ability slot.

Carbine Studios plans to host a 30 minute livestream to kick off the open beta on Thursday at 11am PDT. Following that, a six-hour livestream is planned for Friday to demonstrate the game’s raids and Warplot activity, and offer a sneak peak into higher level content.

All characters participating in the beta will be wiped before the game’s pre-order headstart period begins on May 31. The game is scheduled for release on June 2.

The game will cost $15 a month to play. Alternatively, players can spend in-game cash to buy time-extending credits from other players.
