Watch Dogs Looks ‘Absolutely Identical’ on PS4 and Xbox One

April 23, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Animation director says he can’t tell the difference between the two versions of the game.

Watch_Dogs' animation director Colin Graham has told VideoGamer that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game looks "absolutely identical."

He added that you might notice some difference in the game because of the settings of your TV:

"The Xbox One version is good. I check it on the floor a lot. Animation-wise it's identical, absolutely identical. I know people talk about that a lot… But I can't tell the difference when I go on the floor. I have to look at the consoles because the TVs make a bigger difference in terms of what you see on somebody's machine. Is it calibrated correctly? Is it the resolution of the TV? Which kind of TV is it? I actually can't tell the difference on those two [consoles]. As far as I can see they're identical.

"And on the assets side where we work, they're absolutely identical. It's completely transparent to us. The only difference is the icon on the screen."

Graham also explained why Ubisoft has consistently chosen to show Watch_Dogs on PS4 saying, "We have a partnership with Sony to promote this game. That's why we're here showing it this way."

Graphical differences between the PS4 and Xbox One have been thrown into sharp contrast once again with news from Lords of the Fallen developer CI Games believes that achieving 1080p on Xbox One is "tougher" than it is on PS4.

Watch_Dogs is set for release on May 27th for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
