Lords of the Fallen Offers a Brutal Challenge in this New Trailer

April 22, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new trailer of Lords of the Fallen showcases one of the game’s major challenges.

Bandai Namco has released a sizzling new trailer for CI Games’ upcoming action role-playing game Lords of the Fallen. The game is slated for release later this year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The game has been touted as the “German Dark Souls” for its challenging nature. Whether it manages to live up to the hype remains to be seen.

Much like the Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 games, Lords of the Fallen places a heavy emphasis on combat skill and persistence, challenging players to hone their abilities with a multitude of weapons, armor character upgrades and supernatural abilities.

According to its developers, Lords of the Fallen aims to slash, stab, bludgeon, burn, freeze and/or pummel its way into the dark hearts of masochistic gamers everywhere. Expect to die a lot.

Here’s what the new trailer’s all about:

The Champion Lord has always been a bit different from other commanders of the Fallen God's demonic army. For them, it was all about honor and discipline. For the Champion it was all about the intensity of a duel and the bloodthirsty satisfaction from defeating an opponent. Where other Lords would respectfully circle around their opponent, the easily enraged Champion will charge right into the fray with his pure brute force. He always likes to get his hands dirty, so his weapons of choice need to be close to his body, allowing him to smell the blood of his victims. Of course, at close range, his boiling bloodlust and reckless charges don't leave him much in terms of defense, but who would stand against a hulking brute like him? You?

Previous gameplay footage can be found here. It seems like this will be quite a good year for fantasy RPGs with Dragon Age: Inquisition also on the way.
