Watch Dogs is 1080p on PS4, Might be Lower on Xbox One

April 10, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Watch_Dogs will run ‘in full HD’ on PlayStation 4 says cinematics animation lead.

Ubisoft seems to have confirmed that Watch_Dogs will run at 1080p on PlayStation 4 with a lower resolution on Xbox One. Speaking to PC Games yesterday, the title's cinematics animation lead Lars Bonde commented:

"At it's core, [Watch_Dogs] is the same experience on current-gen and next-gen consoles. You get the same gameplay out of it.

"Of course there's nuances to it. We are utilising Xbox One to its full capabilities and the same with the PS4, of course. I know that, as far as to my knowledge, on the PS4 it will run in full HD."

Bonde's comments seem to suggest that the Xbox One edition will not be 1080p and previous rumours have suggested that Ubisoft is targeting 960p for the console. Watch_Dogs is expected to be 30FPS on both systems.

Several multiplatform games have had lower resolutions on Xbox One than PS4 including Thief and Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. However, Oddworld Inhabitants' Lorne Lanning recently commented that he believes the graphical difference between the two consoles will disappear in time.

Watch_Dogs is due out on May 27th for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One with a delayed Wii U version launching at a later date.
