Batman Arkham: Origins Blackgate Deluxe Edition Gets A Sleek New Trailer

April 1, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Armature’s original outing wasn’t all that great, but the uprezz could be worthwhile. Cross your fingers.

Warner Bros Interactive has released a new trailer to coincide with the launch of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition, available now for PC, including Steam, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. The Wii U version will be on the Nintendo eShop this coming April 17.

As you may already know, this is an HD rerelease, with the original coming out on the 3DS and Vita late last year, to itself coincide with Batman: Arkham Origins. The plot is short and sweet; an insurrection in Blackgate prison forces Batman to intercede, to rescue the prison staff who have been made hostage, and take control back from the inmates. Along the way, he interacts with Catwoman, The Joker, The Penguin, Bane, and several other classic DC villains.

The Deluxe edition will have new maps, enemies, difficulty settings, and of course, enhanced graphics. This trailer also shows off some of the skins you will be able to use in the game, which include old standbys like the 60s costume, the New 52 costume, and so forth.

Truthfully, the original received mixed reception when it came out to Vita and 3DS, and the port is also made by the original’s developer Armature Studio, so there are some red flags this might turn out all that great. Considering how Resident Evil Revelations turned out porting from portable to PC and console though, I think we can give this game the benefit of the doubt, at least until the new reviews start coming in.

Check out the full trailer below.
