Notch Cancels Planned Oculus VR Version Of Minecraft

March 25, 2014 by Holly Green

The Swedish indie developer is not happy with the purchase, saying Facebook “creeps” him out.

Well, there's at least one person who isn't happy with the news of Facebook's upcoming purchase of Oculus: Notch, the creator of Minecraft. In a message posted to Twitter, he states:

"We were in talks about maybe bringing a version of Minecraft to Oculus. I just cancelled that deal. Facebook creeps me out."

It'll be interesting to see the response from other developers, as there are planned Oculous Rift versions or compatibility with a number of titles, from DayZ  to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. So far none of the many announcements or press releases regarding the purchase have even mentioned the device's use with video games. It also remains to be seen what, if any, benefit the original Kickstarter investors of the Oculus might see from this historic purchase.
