The Xbox One hasn’t even hit Japanese soil yet, but it sounds like Microsoft is planning on making a real push in the market this year. Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Game Studios, recently hinted that we should expect to see something big coming from a Japanese studio during the Tokyo Game Show.
"I'm very excited about the announcement of the release window in Japan," Spencer told Gamasutra’s Kris Graft, as reported by Famitsu. "A unique exclusive title for Xbox One is going to be released by an awesome Japanese studio.
"I'm looking forward to go to Tokyo Game Show this year, and I want to show everyone something never seen before. Stay tuned!"
Plenty of people have been pointing to Platinum Games as this “awesome Japanese studio.” That company recently launched The Wonderful 101 on the Wii U, so it’s not afraid to work out exclusive publishing deals. We’ll just have to wait until this year’s TGS, though, to get the full picture.
