Ubisoft Toronto Has Five Unannounced Games in Development

March 11, 2014 by Stephen Daly

‘There are definitely a lot of plates spinning,’ says studio boss Jade Raymond.

In an interview with The Star, Ubisoft Toronto president Jade Raymond has revealed that the studio currently has five unannounced games in development.

Two of the titles are co-productions with other studios but Raymond would divulge what they might be. She commented, “There are definitely a lot of plates spinning. None of them have been announced."

Speaking on the move to 'transmedia' – the increasing convergence of games, TV, and movies – Raymond said Ubisoft's main concern is making great games.

“Our business is making games, so we have to make sure we’re making good games, first and foremost, I don’t think we can think out the gate, ‘How is this going to be a good movie?’ I don’t know anything about movies. I’ve never made a movie in my life.”

Raymond recently denied reports that the next Assassin's Creed will be set in Feudal Japan but added that she believes it would be a "cool idea." It's likely that Ubisoft Toronto is involved with the game's development.

Last year the studio released Splinter Cell: Blacklist and may also be continuing with that franchise. Animation director Kristjan Zadziuk commented in January that the series is "evolving."
