PopCap Sees Garden Warfare as a Service, Free DLC Coming Soon

March 2, 2014 by Josiah Renaudin

The third-person shooter is going to get new content in the near future, based on what the fans demand.

PopCap Games’ senior franchise marketing manager Gary Clay is looking at Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare a little bit differently than the other games in the team’s catalogue. Speaking with Digital Spy, Clay explained how free content would be coming to the service based on audience feedback.

"We haven't announced what the content's going to be, but we're looking to expand the gameplay experience significantly," he said. "We will be listening to the community for the types of content they want to see, and then we'll continuously update that.

"One of the things that we're going to be doing is updating our in-game billboard on the menu screen, a dynamic billboard that we can [use to] communicate with players."

Clay continued by saying players should expect extra maps and game modes within the additional content, but all of it will have that unique PopCap flavor.

"Expect a big PvZ spin on everything,” he said. “Don't expect the standard elements you'd get from most games. It'll be focused on humor and things that are very different."
