There are always a few crafty individuals that manage to tinker with the latest video game consoles to offer fans emulators. In some cases these instances allow players to enjoy video game titles that released decades ago where there is no real official or even viable way to play these games today. However, some manage to get an emulator running for a system that is currently available today. While it’s not too typical to see a game emulator release that can run video games properly around the same time that the system is available for purchase, there have been some big updates to Yuzu, an emulator that can run Nintendo Switch video game titles.
We’re already seeing some videos being posted online showcasing the emulator running Paper Mario: The Origami King rather effortlessly. It’s not legal to pull off as there are no official means to play these Nintendo titles on the PC platform, but those with a powerful enough computer may find themselves avoiding the need of Nintendo Switch to enjoy some video game titles.
With that said, Yuzu is still very much an experimental open-source emulator but with the developers behind Citra which emulated the Nintendo 3DS, some big advancements may prove to be problematic for Nintendo if their video game titles continue to get leaked ahead of launch and available for players to simply download for the emulation software.
Of course, we’re also seeing that while the emulator may run some video games decently, there are still quite a few that either won’t boot completely or will have a difficult time running in general. With that said, this latest video game release ahead of launch for the emulator may be a pretty decent blow to Nintendo.
