Walt Disney Interactive prepares to lay off hundreds of employees, according to the Wall Street Journal. Despite the strong launch of Disney Infinity, Disney Interactive plans to cut its staff following the financial quarterly results on Wednesday.
Among the layoffs, Playdom studio, the team responsible for developing social games, should see its staff reduced.
The Disney Infinity launch generated $396 million in revenue and the company wants to continue its success. Disney Interactive wants to bring more Infinity games featuring Marvel superheroes and Star Wars characters.
Disney Infinity sold three million units at launch and gave the company much needed help to reach its fiscal goals. The Disney Infinity launch helped Disney Interactive reach only its second profitable fiscal quarter in the five year history of the company.
